Nanaimo Shotokan Karate-Do Assn is BCs longest-running karate club, celebrating 52 years as a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching karate-do in Nanaimo, BC. The club offers training sessions at Departure Bay Elementary School, with classes for juniors on Mondays and Wednesdays and senior belts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The club also holds summer training sessions at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church hall for the months of July and August.
The club follows the principles of Shotokan karate, emphasizing seeking perfection of character, being faithful, endeavouring, respecting others, and refraining from violent behaviour. Karate-do is seen as a lifetime study, promoting physical and mental fitness, discipline, and respect. The club is a proud member of ShotoCanada and is affiliated with Karate BC and Karate Canada.
