New Brighton Olympic Athletic Club

New Brighton Olympic Athletics is a friendly running club located on the eastern side of Christchurch, New Zealand. Our members come from all over the city and surrounding areas, from Springsteen to Rangiora. We cater to individuals of all abilities, from beginners to seasoned track and field athletes and ultra marathon runners. Our age range is diverse, spanning from 7 to 70-plus years old.

Our club operates all year round and has two sections: Cross Country and Track & Field. We offer programmes for both adults and children. Our clubrooms, situated at Rawhiti Domain off Keyes Road, provide meeting rooms, kitchen and toilet facilities, as well as a small indoor gym. We are fortunate to have full-size track and field facilities that were used by Canterbury Athletics after the earthquakes while they waited for Nga Puna Wai to be built.

During the summer, children's training sessions take place at our clubrooms, while in winter, training groups operate from various locations throughout the city.

Participation in races of all distances is a regular occurrence for New Brighton Olympic Athletics. We compete both locally and nationally, and our members have the freedom to choose the races and relays they wish to enter. While there is no pressure to race, our clubmates are always there to cheer you on as you cross the finish line. Our club also organises club runs on Saturdays between interclub events, providing members with additional opportunities to stay active and connect with fellow athletes.

Established in 2011, New Brighton Olympic Athletic Club emerged from the merger of two prestigious and successful athletics clubs in Canterbury. We have a rich history of athletic excellence and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
