John Cameron, the organised force behind Newburgh Sailing Club, invites sailors to experience a unique sailing adventure in Cupar, northern Fife. Located off the A913 between Perth and Newport-on-Tay, the club boasts stunning views of the river Tay and Mugdrum Island's vast reed beds.
The sailing conditions at Newburgh are both exhilarating and challenging. John knows the trees and rolling hills create tricky wind shear, while the valley's wind and brackish waters add to the challenge. These conditions make every sail an adventure.
Newburgh Sailing Club offers training courses, regular races, and more for sailors of all ages and skill levels. As an RYA registered centre, John runs courses year-round for adults and children alike. A major highlight is the annual Cadet Training Week, scheduled for around 29th July to 2nd August, giving young sailors a chance to sharpen their skills.
The club, known for its inclusive and friendly vibe, also hosts social events like BBQs and kids' fun days. With excellent facilities including changing rooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, and panoramic views of the Tay from the reception area, the club offers more than just sailing opportunities. There's even a dinghy park for boat storage during winter.
As an RYA approved centre, John ensures members can take part in powerboat and rescue boat training courses. The club operates three rescue boats, including two RIBs, well-suited for rough weather, and maintains a fleet of classic National Solo boats for one-design racing.
Whether you're an experienced sailor or a beginner eager to learn, Newburgh Sailing Club offers the ideal setting. John Cameron welcomes everyone to explore the club's offerings through their website or contact page.
