Welcome to the website of NICCA Beechhill Fishery, a fishing club based in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. We are a subscriber-based charity that aims to promote angling within our community. Our fully accessible angling hub offers a range of services including fishing, training, competitions, and outreach events.
As a subscriber to our charity, you have the opportunity to receive additional training and offer your services on a voluntary basis to assist in the day-to-day running of the fishery and participate in angling outreach events. We also offer non-fishing subscription options for those who wish to join on a volunteer basis only. We are a registered charity and hold Clubmark NI accreditation to Gold Certification.
Members have specific fishing times, with no entry through site gates before 07:00. Members must be offsite 30 minutes before dusk or no later than 21:30 on lighter nights. We require members to sign in electronically. Non-members, guests, and visitors are required to make bookings in advance and are not allowed same-day arrival without pre-booking.
A valid DAERA Rod Licence is a must for all participants.
Our fully accessible angling hub provides an angling experience for people of all ages and abilities. We have a membership base from which we draw volunteers to pass on their love of angling in a safe and secure environment under the supervision of our Level 2 coaching staff. We work with various stakeholders, including AMH, DAERA, Department of Justice, Disability Sport NI, Hydebank Secure College, Local Authorities, Local Community Groups, The PSNI, Probation Service of Northern Ireland, and Sport NI. Furthermore, we also offer coaching sessions and delivery of the CAST NI Certification Programme, which are free for our members.
NICCA operates Beechhill Fishery and the Conlig Lower Reservoir in Co Down. Beechhill Fishery has 28 stands, all of which are disability-friendly and fully wheelchair accessible. It offers onsite car parking, a Club Cabin, and toilet facilities. While not currently ideal for those with mobility issues, we are planning a new toilet facility to ensure full access for everyone.
The Canal section of the fishery holds a variety of fish including Carp, Perch, Roach, Rudd, Skimmers, and Tench. The Pond section contains Carp, Roach, and Rudd. Beechhill Fishery is currently the only fully inclusive fishery in Northern Ireland. Conlig Lower Reservoir holds a good head of Roach, Rudd, and Skimmers and also offers car parking facilities.
