For runners maintaining a pace slower than 5 hours, the marathon offers a course redirection at the 22 km mark. Redirected runners will take a different route to ensure safety and comply with traffic management requirements, completing seven loops near the finish before heading to the MCG for the final stretch.
To enhance the race experience, pace groups led by experienced pacers will be available. These pacers maintain consistent speeds and provide encouragement throughout the race. Runners can also apply for a preferred start behind the Elite field, provided they meet specific qualifying times from races since January 1, 2021.
