Nomad Therapy, also known as Baby Nomad, is a yoga instructor based in Stamford, New Zealand. Founded by Julie Bickerton, the aim of Nomad Therapy is to provide support and nurture to women throughout pregnancy, postnatally, and during the menopause stage of their lives. With a philosophy centred around positive touch and accessible yoga, Julie creates a safe space where women can openly share their experiences and build a community of like-minded individuals.
Julie's journey into the world of supporting women began with her training as a baby massage instructor and the birth of her own son. Her fascination with babies only grew, leading her to expand her knowledge and experience in order to support women through the incredible period of their lives that is motherhood. Julie considers herself fortunate to have found her vocation and is continuously learning from every woman and baby she meets.
Nomad Therapy offers a range of services including baby massage and yoga, wellbeing and yoga for women from pregnancy to menopause, personalised treatments for deep healing, and the use of essential oils for the benefit of the whole family. Julie's aim is to provide a valuable investment for both mothers and their children, supporting their physical and emotional well-being.
Understanding the importance of community and support during the major transitions of motherhood, Julie believes in creating a nurturing environment for women to flourish. As families move away from the traditional support of extended family, Julie aims to create another village where mothers can come together to share information, responsibilities, stories, and ideas in a safe and non-judgmental space. This sense of community allows for major transformations as women navigate the journey of motherhood, seeking support, and finding ways to raise their spirits as well as their children.
Nomad Therapy emphasises the power of simplicity, honesty, laughter, connexion through touch, stillness, and movement through playful yoga. These elements help reduce physical discomfort, promote self-acceptance, bring joy, and remind women of their innate power as creators. By incorporating massage and yoga into their daily lives, mothers can pass on their knowledge and practise to their babies, creating a positive cycle of joy and well-being.
In addition to her classes and services, Julie also offers gift vouchers for her baby massage courses and has written a book about baby massage, available as a PDF download or a physical book. With classes ranging from pregnancy yoga to postnatal and menopause support, Nomad Therapy provides comprehensive care for women throughout their journeys.
