Introducing Women's Running Network Winscombe, a Personal Training club in Winscombe, promoting an exciting Nordic Walking event for all interested players. Nordic Walking is a fantastic full-body workout that not only burns calories but also tones various muscle groups. In fact, it can burn up to 46% more calories compared to regular walking, while toning your legs, buttocks, chest, shoulders, and back. It even helps release tension in the neck, improves posture, and strengthens your abdominal muscles for core stability. The best part is, Nordic Walking is a low-impact exercise that doesn't feel like hard work, making it enjoyable to walk further and for longer.
Engaging in outdoor exercise has been proven to have a positive effect on mental well-being, and Nordic Walking offers the perfect opportunity to embrace the great outdoors. All you need are trainers or walking shoes, and the Body Works will provide you with poles for your lesson. You'll learn the correct Nordic Walking techniques from an INWA (International Nordic Walking Association) UK instructor, who will use a proven and structured teaching method. The lessons also include the use of specially designed, ultra-lightweight Exel Nordic Walking poles. Of course, if you prefer, you can bring your own poles to the session.

Each class is dedicated to improving technique, fitness, and, most importantly, having a great time outdoors with Nordic Walking. Beginners are kindly asked to book a technical lesson priced at £8 per person, which will take place one hour before joining one of the regular classes on the timetable. Regular classes are charged at £7 per person, pay-as-you-go. However, for those who wish to save, discounts are available for prepayment of 3 credits at £20 or 6 credits at £40 (valid for 6 months).
Now, for those looking for longer walks on Saturdays, Emma, one of our talented instructors, will be teaching Nordic Walking and leading groups at various locations across North Somerset. To join these walks, beginners are required to book a technical lesson one hour before the walk begins. The 2022 timetable for Saturdays includes exciting locations such as Clevedon in April, Mendips in May, Weston-super-Mare in June, Portishead in July, and Yatton & Congresbury in August. September will take us to Brean/Berrow, and more locations for October to December 2022 will be announced later in the year. All Saturday walks start at 1pm and will include guided instruction while walking. Advanced booking is essential. The cost for all classes in 2022 remains £7 per person, pay-as-you-go, with discounts available for prepayment of 3 credits at £20 or 6 credits at £40 (valid for 6 months). Payments can be made by cash, cheque, or bank transfer.
To secure your spot and make the most of this Nordic Walking experience, please book in advance and complete the registration form provided by Emma via email. Meeting points and walking routes for the Saturday walks will be confirmed closer to the date, as they depend on risk assessment and the size/ability of the group. These walks can vary in length from approximately 4–6 miles and may include hills, stiles, and uneven terrain. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to contact Emma directly.
