Dr. Kimm’s journey started with earning his Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology. Even while deep in his studies in Louisiana, he made time to train and teach martial arts, eventually founding his own school, HanMuDo.
Once back in the UK, Dr. Kimm launched HanMuDo UK and set up the Norfolk HanMuDo Group at the Foulsham Martial Arts club in Dereham. This club is all about passing on the skills of traditional Korean Martial Arts and self-defence techniques. Their training covers everything – from controlled techniques and joint locks to throws and strikes, prepping students for real-life situations.
But it's not just about self-defence. They mix in traditional practices like breathing techniques and flowing ki energy, offering a holistic approach that boosts personal growth and promotes a healthy lifestyle in both mind and body. The Norfolk HanMuDo instructors bring decades of experience to the mat, making sure every student, no matter their age or skill level, gets top-notch training.
Norfolk HanMuDo Group welcomes everyone, tailoring their teaching to fit individual needs, including students with autism and ADHD. The club's friendly and supportive vibe allows everyone to progress at their own speed.
Their syllabus is packed with traditional weapon techniques featuring swords, staffs, canes, belts, and short weapons. They also dive into groundwork and wrestling, giving students a broad spectrum of skills.
