Phil Alford, known to many as “Coach Phil,” has been with the club for over 15 years. Phil has coached various age groups, offering invaluable guidance and support to countless young players. His passion for the game and his knack for nurturing talent have left a strong mark on the club.
Simon Walker, or “Mr. Norristhorpe” as he's fondly called, has been a constant presence for more than two decades. Simon’s dedication has seen him wear many hats, including committee member, fundraiser, and team manager. His ability to unite people and foster a community spirit within the club has played a crucial role in its success.
Norristhorpe Junior Football Club was set up with the conviction that football should be inclusive, offering opportunities for children of all ages and abilities to play and enjoy the sport. As an FA Charter Standard Development Club, Norristhorpe is committed to creating a safe and friendly environment for its players. The club focuses on long-term player development through age-appropriate coaching, encouraging children to learn from their mistakes without undue pressure.
The club's achievements are a testament to its dedication to nurturing talent. The U15 boys' squad recently celebrated nine players receiving their 'ten year awards' at the 2018/19 season awards evening, showing the club's ability to foster a love for the game and player loyalty from a young age.
On the pitch, Norristhorpe Junior Football Club has seen remarkable success. The U15 girls' squad had a stellar double-winning season, securing both the West Riding Girls' Football League U15 Division 2 title and the U15 League Shield. Despite facing older teams, they reached the quarterfinals of the West Riding Girls U16 Junior Trophy, highlighting their determination and skill.
The U14 boys' teams, the Bulls and the Rhinos, also enjoyed standout seasons, leading their divisions in the Huddersfield & District Macron Junior Football League. Their achievements underscore their hard work and dedication as they now look forward to their U15 season.
Additionally, the U13 Girls excelled in Division 2 of the West Riding Girls Football League, closing the season with 13 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses. Their success reflects their teamwork and determination.
Norristhorpe Junior Football Club is also dedicated to engaging with the local community. The club recently hosted its second girls' football gala, welcoming teams from 19 clubs to Warrenside Sports Complex. With nearly 300 girls participating across five age groups, the event was a great success. The club extends its gratitude to all the teams and volunteers who made the day memorable.
