North Bay Canoe Club

The North Bay Canoe Club (NBCC) is a sports club located in North Bay, offering Sprint Canoe and Kayak racing programs for athletes aged 8 and up. The club provides instruction and training in the Olympic sport of flatwater canoe-kayak, with opportunities to compete at regional regattas across eastern Ontario and qualify for Provincial Championships each summer. The NBCC programs focus on ongoing training, technique development, and the opportunity to compete at higher levels, including Provincial, national, and international championships as athletes progress.

For younger athletes aged 10 to 14, the U10/U12/U14 Summer Sprint Racing programs run from July to August, with various full-time and part-time options. Participants can choose between full-day, half-day, or three days per week programs for either the full summer or half summer duration. Participation at regattas is encouraged but not mandatory, with certified coaches dedicated to teaching racing technique, improving balance, and providing age-appropriate athletic training in line with Long Term Athlete Development principles. The primary goal is to develop racing skills and confidence in a safe and supportive environment while having fun.

In addition to the summer programs, NBCC offers Intro to Sprint Racing Camps in both the spring and summer for newcomers to the sport. The spring camp runs after school in June, while the summer camps are all-day programs in July and August. Fees paid for summer camps can be deducted from the Sprint Program fees if a participant decides to continue with the full-day, Monday to Friday, full summer Sprint Racing program. Furthermore, the club offers year-round off-season training programs for children looking to continue paddling during the Fall, start early in the Spring, or focus on strength and fitness during the Winter months.
