About

North Delta Aikikai - Aikido Club is located in the North Delta Recreation Centre and is a proud member of the Canadian Aikido Federation (CAF). Led by Chief Instructor Kim Riddick Sensei, who has over 30 years of experience in Aikido and is a CAF shidoin for British Columbia, our club offers classes for adults of all fitness levels.

In Aikido, which translates to "The Way of Harmony," students engage in partnered cooperative training to learn how to redirect lines of aggression using circular motions. Safety is paramount, and students also practice safe falls and tumbles to enhance their understanding of the art. The emphasis is on the journey of the practice, rather than competition, making it suitable for beginners who are just starting out.

Classes at North Delta Aikikai are open to all, and spectators are welcome to observe. Students primarily wear white martial arts uniforms (keikogi) during class, but newcomers can wear comfortable workout clothes like T-shirts and track pants or yoga pants. It is recommended to wear attire that covers the knees to prevent mat abrasions.

If you are interested in learning Aikido and experiencing the benefits of this art form, North Delta Aikikai - Aikido Club is the place for you. Join us starting April June for classes and begin your journey towards harmony and self-improvement through Aikido practice. Visit our Facebook page for more information and updates on class schedules.
