

North Highlands Nordic, located in Cape North, Cape Breton, NS, is a cross-country skiing destination. The volunteer-run, non-profit organization offers a Nordic centre and a variety of cross-country ski and snowshoe trails for visitors to explore. The history of North Highlands Nordic dates back to 1977 when a small group of cross-country skiers came together to share their love of winter and the stunning scenery of Cape Breton Island. From humble beginnings on ungroomed trails, the club has grown to encompass a high-class facility with a 12 km trail network that offers panoramic views of Atlantic Canada's best scenery. The club has hosted numerous national and regional ski races over the years, showcasing their dedication to the sport.
The new Nordic centre, currently under construction with phase 3 in progress, houses the main office and equipment rentals for visitors. North Highlands Nordic follows Nova Scotia Health COVID-19 guidelines to ensure the safety of all guests. Pets, snowmobiles, and ATVs are not permitted on the trails, maintaining a peaceful and enjoyable environment for skiers and snowshoers.
North Highlands Nordic is proud to work in partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia through the Department of Communities, Culture, and Heritage to develop and promote cultural resources for all Nova Scotians.
