Welcome to the North Shore Canoe Club, located on the beautiful shore of Lake Pupuke in Takapuna, Auckland's North Shore. The club has a rich history and has been a training ground for some of New Zealand's greatest paddlers in canoe sprint, marathon, surfski, and multisport disciplines. The club welcomes members of all abilities and ages, from beginners to high-performance athletes.
The vision of the North Shore Canoe Club is to inspire people to paddle. Kayaking is a diverse sport that offers opportunities for recreation, competition, fitness, adventure, and challenge. With our prime location on Lake Pupuke, we provide an ideal base for individuals looking to improve their skills, compete, or simply enjoy being on the water.
At our club, we support a wide range of individuals, from youth to masters age groups, and from novice to elite paddlers. We take pride in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where complete beginners can train alongside some of the world's best paddlers. Whether you are interested in honing your canoe sprint technique or building endurance as a multisporter, the North Shore Canoe Club has something to offer.
We are particularly proud to have nurtured the talents of several Olympians, including Ian Ferguson, Paul MacDonald, Lisa Carrington, Ben Fouhy, and many others. We have also supported current and past members of Canoe Racing New Zealand's High Performance Squad and New Zealand Team.
As the largest flatwater sprint club in the country, we take the largest team of paddlers to Canoe Racing New Zealand's Regional and National regattas every year. We have an extensive range of club gear available for hire, so you don't need to own your own boat or paddle to participate. Whether you are a seasoned paddler or just looking to try kayaking for the first time, we welcome everyone to join our club.
If you're new to the area and seeking a friendly and welcoming club to call home, or if you're simply interested in challenging yourself and learning a new sport, we would love to hear from you. Join us at the North Shore Canoe Club and become part of our paddling community. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our passion for kayaking.
