The Northside Lions Superules Football Club is a community-based AFL football club located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, specifically in Reservoir. The club competes in the Vic Metro Masters League and is affiliated with the Coburg Sports Association.
The Northside Lions Superules is an inclusive and diverse club with teams in the Men's Over 35s, Over 45s, Over 50s, Over 55s, and the Women's Over 35s. They all compete in the Vic Metro Superules League. The club's motto is “Footy For Life,” which reflects their belief that you are never too old to play football.
The primary purpose of the Northside Lions Superules is to provide mature age players the opportunity to participate and compete in a safe, well-organised, and enjoyable atmosphere. The club also aims to encourage physical activity for better health management.
The club is thrilled to announce Anthony McGregor as their Men's Supers Coach for 2024. McGregor has an extensive footy career spanning over 30 years as both a player and coach in various leagues, including the AFL, VFL, EDFL, and NFNL. He played 43 games at an elite level for Fitzroy between 1993 and 1996. McGregor will officially join Northside Lions as of November 29th.
Further coaching announcements are expected in the coming days.
Brendan Andrews has been reappointed as the Women's Over 35 Senior Coach for the 2024 season. Joining him will be Terri Xuereb, who has been reappointed as the Women's Over 35 Assistant Coach.
The club also organises pre-season training sessions before Christmas. These sessions are open to both men and women in the Over 35, 45, 50, and 55 age groups. Training is directed by Gilly, and trainers will be onsite. Refreshments will be available post-training, and participants are required to bring their own water bottles.
The club encourages members to bring along a mate to introduce them to the fantastic footy club.
Northside Lions Superules Football Club is committed to providing opportunities for players to enjoy football and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. They are proud winners of the Division 2 Reserves topship in 2023.
