Northwest Tai Chi is a well-established martial arts school located in Preston, Lancashire. Founded by Bryan Nuttall in 1998, the school aims to promote the practise of Traditional Yang style Tai Chi. With over forty years of experience in oriental arts such as Tai Chi, Chi Kung, meditation, Shiatsu, philosophy, and martial arts, Bryan Nuttall is a highly experienced and passionate instructor.
The classes at Northwest Tai Chi are designed to cater to individuals of all skill levels. The class in Preston meets on Tuesdays from 7. 00pm to 8. 00pm.
The class is divided into three phases, starting with Chi Kung. Chi Kung involves static and moving sets that develop aspects of stillness and fundamental body mechanics. It is followed by the Tai Chi Form, which is a set of slow, continuous, flowing, and integrated movements. Form practise increases awareness of balance, co-ordination, and rhythm.
The third part of the class consists of two-person exercises, which enhance co-ordination, resilience, whole-body power, and stability of mind-body.
The fees for the classes at Northwest Tai Chi vary from 8 to 10 per class. Private tuition is also available upon request for students of all levels, with fees starting from 35 per hour. Additionally, tailored-made workshops for groups or organisations can be arranged, with fees varying according to the size of the group.
Bryan Nuttall, the founder and instructor at Northwest Tai Chi, has dedicated his life to understanding and training the deeper aspects of Tai Chi, Chi Kung, and other oriental arts. He has trained under internationally recognised teachers and completed a 3-year Diploma course with the British School of Shiatsu. His final teacher, Master John Ding, a 6th generation Yang style Tai Chi First Disciple lineage holder, supervised and tutored Bryan for 15 years, making him a senior student and instructor.
