NRL South Australia is a prominent rugby league club located in Kilkenny, South Australia. As part of the National Rugby League (NRL), NRLSA offers a range of competitions and programmes for both males and females of all ages and abilities.
The club's main focus is on club rugby league, which begins at the junior level, with teams starting from U6s and continuing through to seniors. The season for senior women typically starts in late February, with finals in late March. The junior and senior men's season traditionally begins in May and concludes with finals in early August. All games are played on Sundays throughout the day.
NRLSA also runs an introductory programme called League Stars, which is designed for primary school-aged children. This programme is all about play and no contact, allowing kids to enjoy the true nature of rugby league while practising fundamental movement skills and having fun with their friends. The League Stars programme runs for 4–8 weeks and can take place before or after school.
In addition to their club competitions and programmes, NRLSA is actively involved in engaging with schools and the local community. They offer various programmes and events for schools of all abilities and year levels. One of the programmes they offer is the District Carnivals, where primary and secondary students have the opportunity to represent their school in tag and tackle competitions. Outstanding schools then progress to the State Championships held at the end of the school year.
NRLSA is also partnered with Sporting Schools, an initiative by the Australian Government, to provide free programmes to students and their families. These programmes aim to help students build confidence and capability to be active for life. NRLSA offers targeted programmes for students of all ability levels, from preschool through to secondary school.
To support the growth of rugby league and the NRLSA community, the club also provides opportunities for individuals to get involved as referees, coaches, and sports trainers. These roles are vital in ensuring the smooth functioning of the club and the development of players and teams.
