At Odokan Karate, located in Vancouver, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditional Shito-ryu style of Karate-do under the guidance of experienced senior instructors Kaz Hashimoto and Mark Stacey. Founded in 1987 and relocated in July 2012 to a new address at 3465 Kingsway St, Odokan Karate continues to uphold the principles and teachings of Soke Seiko Suzuki of the Suzuki-ha Shito-Ryu Nihon Karatedo Seiko-Kai. Soke Suzuki, a highly respected figure in the world of Karate, has dedicated his life to the study and practice of Karate, earning multiple dan ranks and certificates in both Karate-do and Kobudo.
As a member of Japan Karate-do Suzuki-ha Shito-ryu SEIKOKAI, Odokan Karate is affiliated with Karate B. C. Association, the provincial governing body for Karate in British Columbia. Karate B.
C. is recognized and funded by the Provincial Government and is a provincial affiliate of Karate Canada, the national governing body for Karate in Canada. Karate Canada is also the Canadian representative in the World Karate Federation, the international sport governing body for Karate recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
