On Pointe Dance Company is a dynamic dance school located in Gisborne, New Zealand. Founded in 2020 by Anita Zwart, the studio is dedicated to providing high-quality instruction in Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Musical Theatre. Ballet classes are also available through our partnership with Nadine Antoinette School of Dance.

Anita Zwart, the founder and main teacher at On Pointe Dance Company, is a Qualified Royal Academy of Dance teacher who brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her classes. With a background in Sports Physiotherapy, Anita prioritises safety in her teaching and ensures that students learn using safe and effective techniques.

Joining the studio as a teacher is Halaena McKeauge, a seasoned dancer who has trained in Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary since the age of four. With a passion for dance and a commitment to excellence, Halaena adds depth and variety to the class offerings at On Pointe Dance Company.

The studio operates from two locations. Our main studio at 351 Ormond Rd, Mangapapa, is shared with Nadine Antoinette School of Dance. It has ample off-street parking and offers a convenient location for dancers. We also have a purpose-built dance room at Campion School, equipped with full-length mirrors, a heat pump, and a non-slip sprung floor.

At On Pointe Dance Company, we offer a range of classes to cater to dancers of all levels and ages. Our Jazz Dance New Zealand Syllabus Classes provide a logical progression from beginner to advanced, with optional exams that help track dancers' progress. We also have a dedicated conditioning and skills class that focuses on improving flexibility, core stability, and dance performance.

For those looking for a more competitive dance experience, we have three competition teams: Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. These teams perform at local dance competitions three times a year, as well as at our end-of-year concert. New enrolments for competition teams are accepted prior to March each year, and it is a requirement for students to also be enrolled in a Jazz or Ballet syllabus class.
