OPBC Badminton, located in Ilford, is a badminton club that aims to nurture the next generation of badminton players and guide them towards reaching their full potential. NZ English is spoken and catered to at our vibrant and inclusive club. We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive and detailed training experience that combines expert coaching, competitive gameplay, and a passion for the sport.
Our club offers a range of training groups designed to cater to different age groups and skill levels. The Mini group is aimed at children aged 4–8 years old who are just starting out on their badminton adventure. The Junior group, for children aged 9-13, is also designed for those just starting out. The Development group is for players who are starting their competitive journey, providing an introduction to a competitive training environment.
The Academy group is for players who are already participating in regular badminton competitions and are starting to be recognised within their county badminton set-up. The Elite group is for players excelling in their age group nationally and looking to gain national and international success. Finally, the Performance group is for players competing on an international stage, aiming to attain England Junior Pathway status.
In addition to our training groups, we also offer Club Night Sessions that are open to all ages and skill levels. These sessions provide an opportunity for players to come together, practise, and enjoy the sport in a fun and social atmosphere. Club nights are held on Monday (advanced level) and Friday (intermediate level), from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
At OPBC Badminton, we also host special events such as training sessions led by former world no. 1 Tan Boon Hong. These events provide unique learning opportunities for players to enhance their skills and knowledge of the sport. We also organise various social events to create a sense of community and camaraderie among our members.
Our club prides itself on the positive feedback we receive from our members. A testimonial from Aarun Woodhouse, a student at Kings College London University, highlights the professionalism and expertise of our coaching staff.
