Oreston Bowls Club is a small and friendly club located in Plymouth, New Zealand. They welcome individuals of all ages and skill levels to join and participate in outdoor bowling from April to October each year. The club's green is a peaceful and serene setting, situated on Dean Cross Road in Plymstock. It is conveniently located opposite Kenley's Nursery, behind the children's play area, with ample parking available.
The club can be easily accessed by taking buses number 2, 2A, or 5A, as they have nearby stops.
Oreston Bowls Club actively participates in both league and friendly matches against other local clubs. They encourage all members to take part in these matches. League matches can take place on any day of the week, including weekends, either in the afternoon or evening. This allows for flexibility, ensuring that all members can participate in competitive play if they desire.
For those who prefer a more casual experience or are beginners, members have the opportunity to play as often as they like on any day of the week, provided suitable weather conditions allow it and there are no ongoing competitions or green maintenance.
The club offers guidance and coaching for beginners during a free trial period. All the necessary equipment is available for loan, making it easy to give the sport a try. It is recommended to wear flat shoes without heels while playing. Members are required to pay an annual subscription fee to the club and green fees to the Plymouth City Council, who own and maintain the facilities to a high standard.
