Orpington Bowling Club

Orpington Bowling Club (OBC), nestled in Goddington Park just off Court Road, has been a cornerstone of the Orpington community since 1929. Fred and the team at OBC are eager to welcome anyone keen to try lawn bowling or simply enjoy the social scene.

Their outdoor season kicks off from late April to late September, with indoor fixtures and social events keeping everyone entertained during the winter. Fred ensures that the club is fully inclusive, with everyone pitching in, regardless of gender.

Both ladies and gents have their own activities but come together for friendly matches with local clubs and competitions like the North West Kent League. Fred also organises exciting away-day fixtures to places like New Romney, Broadstairs, and Whitstable, giving members a chance to compete in fresh surroundings and enjoy each other’s company.

Throughout the season, OBC features a range of events, including a Dinner Dance, Barn Dances, Quiz nights, BBQs, and Fun days. These gatherings are perfect for socialising and making new friends.

Fred and the gang are also committed to nurturing young talent, with a junior section for boys and girls aged 8-17. By the end of the 2023 season, OBC proudly had 100 members, including juniors and social members.

If you fancy giving lawn bowling a go, look out for their open days shortly after they reopen in April. Fred invites individuals of all ages, including juniors aged 8-18, to come along. With accessible facilities and ample parking at Goddington Park, it couldn’t be easier to join in.
