Finally found a solution. With the new format, players can expect to have a match scheduled in a timely manner, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable tennis experience.
The Ouyen Lawn Tennis Club, located in the heart of Ouyen, offers a warm and welcoming environment for tennis enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Known for its good Mallee hospitality, the club prides itself on hosting the annual Rohan Gregg Memorial Labour Day Tournament, which has become a beloved tradition in the community.
The tournament is held on the Labour day weekend in March and features a variety of events for both singles and doubles players. From veterans to under 12 and 16 events, there is something for everyone in the family. The 12 courts, including 6 under lights, provide a beautiful backdrop for matches that may even continue into the evening, with a stunning Mallee sunset as a backdrop.
In addition to the tournament, the Ouyen Lawn Tennis Club offers regular competitions and social play throughout the year. Memberships are available for both senior and junior players, with all participants required to be financial members in order to play. Membership applications can be completed online or through the club's treasurer, and fees must be paid by the 3rd round of the current tennis season.
The club also boasts a welcoming social atmosphere, with famous chook lotto events held on Sunday nights and homemade meals available from the kitchen. Whether you're a seasoned player or just picking up a racket for the first time, everyone is made to feel like part of the Ouyen Lawn Tennis Club family.
With the introduction of the new tournament format in 2020, the club aims to ensure that every player gets the opportunity to participate in a match in a timely manner. Players will enter one section/grade of senior tennis, with separate sections available for juniors and veterans. Matches will be played on a knockout basis, with winners and losers progressing to the appropriate grade. The committee reserves the right to regrade players to ensure fair and even competition.
At the Ouyen Lawn Tennis Club, the love for tennis is matched only by the warm Mallee hospitality. Join the club today and experience the joy of tennis in a welcoming and inclusive community.
