Designed to improve strength, stamina, coordination, and technique.
Located near John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, the Oxford Boxing Academy (OBA) is a full-time Boxing and Fitness Gym catering to men, women, and children of all skill and fitness levels. The academy offers non-contact training sessions that are specifically designed for each group, from juniors to adults, both male and female.
With fully qualified coaches who have trained and competed at a high level, OBA ensures that its members receive top-notch training from instructors who have firsthand experience in the sport. The academy believes that it is important for members to have confidence in their instructors, knowing that they have undergone a rigorous training regime themselves.
Boxing at OBA is more than just a physical workout; it is a means of countering stress and improving overall well-being. The combination of strength training and aerobic workouts in boxing provides the best of both worlds, allowing members to feel a muscular pump while stimulating their cardiovascular system.
Oxford Boxing Academy offers a wide range of training sessions throughout the week for different age groups and fitness levels. Men's Fitness Boxing, Women's Sessions, Junior Sessions, and Competitive Sessions are all available. Training times are scheduled on weekdays from Monday to Thursday, with additional sessions on Sundays. A typical session at OBA includes a warm-up, boxing drills, bag/pad work, skipping, floor exercises, and stretching to finish off.
For those who are interested in joining OBA but do not wish to compete, there are plenty of training sessions that cater to individuals who simply enjoy the sport and want to focus on improving their fitness. The academy welcomes members as young as 10 years old, allowing them to start their boxing journey at an early age.
