Welcome to Paisley Traditional Taekwondo Association (TTA)! Established in 1982 by Grandmaster T. K. Loh, our association is dedicated to teaching the Korean martial art of Taekwondo in its traditional form – as a holistic training of mind and body.

With TTA clubs across the UK, the Republic of Ireland, and affiliate schools in Malaysia, we have been spreading the art of Taekwondo and its values worldwide.

Taekwondo focuses on self-defence, self-discipline, self-reliance, self-control, tenacity, and true grit. It is more than just a sport; it is a way of life. Our chief instructor, T. Loh, holds a 9th Dan black belt and has been passionately leading the TTA for years.

Taekwondo is an ancient Korean martial art that combines kicking, punching, and self-defence techniques. The name Taekwondo itself represents the art of hand and foot fighting. At TTA, we provide comprehensive training that encompasses the philosophy and spirit of traditional Taekwondo, as well as modern sports science practises. This well-rounded approach ensures that you receive a balanced and complete martial art experience.

While Taekwondo has roots that can be traced back over a thousand years, it became a distinct martial art in the mid-twentieth century. Initially seen as a Korean interpretation of Japanese Karate, Taekwondo later developed its own identity through efforts to eliminate foreign influences and the application of modern scientific knowledge. Today, Taekwondo is a popular sport worldwide, with over 50 million practitioners in 167 countries.

The tenets of Taekwondo – courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit – form the foundation of our training. We believe in fostering not only physical strength but also mental and spiritual harmony. Our ultimate goal is to help our students achieve a state of oneness, where they act with certainty and instinctively do the right thing in any situation.
