Pakenham Football Club

Pakenham Football Club is a well-established Australian Rules Football club located in the town of Pakenham, Victoria. The club offers competitive teams for men's football, women's football, and junior football, catering to players of all ages and skill levels.

The club's history dates back to a meeting held at the Gembrook Hotel on March 16th, 1892. In its early years, the club participated in scratch matches against local rivals such as Berwick, Cranbourne, Dandenong, and Warragul. Pakenham's competitive journey began in the early 1900s when it joined the Berwick District Football Association and achieved its first-ever premiership in 1909. This success was repeated five years later.

During the 1920s, Pakenham experienced a period of success, winning four successive topships in three different competitions. In 1927, the club found a long-term home when it affiliated with the West Gippsland Football League. Pakenham remained a member of this league until it merged with the Gippsland Latrobe Valley Football League in 2001, forming the West Gippsland Latrobe Football League.

Throughout its history, Pakenham Football Club has been one of the most successful clubs in the region, with a total of twenty-three senior grade topships. The club's closest rival, Garfield, has won eight topships. Since joining the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League in 2002, Pakenham has continued to excel, playing in four senior grade grand finals and winning two of them in 2002 and 2009.

Pakenham Football Club boasts several great eras and legendary players. The club has twice achieved the remarkable feat of winning four consecutive topships. The first time was from 1924 to 1927, with three different captains leading the team. Another four-peat was achieved from 1987 to 1990, with seven players playing in all four topships.

Notably, the club has produced talented players who have gone on to play in the Australian Football League (AFL), including Peter Russo, Ray Jencke, Don McIntyre, and Tyson Goldsack.
