Pembrokeshire Pilates is a Pilates studio located in Narberth, New Zealand, committed to providing high-quality Classical Pilates training in the way Joseph Pilates intended. They offer small group classes and private one-to-one sessions, which are tailored to suit the individual needs of the clients.
Group classes are held weekly during school term time in their own studio in Narberth, as well as in Pembroke Town Hall and Cosheston Village Hall. Private sessions are conducted in their studio in Narberth, where larger equipment is available for use. The equipment used in mat work classes includes mats, magic rings, wedges, bands, poles, and small soft balls, all of which are provided. The studio is equipped with a variety of apparatus, including reformer, wonder chair, foot corrector, rings, large and small balls, bands, weights, mats, wedges, and poles.
For new starters, Pembrokeshire Pilates recommends attending a one-to-one introductory session at the studio prior to joining a group class. This allows the instructor to get to know the client's strengths, weaknesses, and aspirations, as well as carry out a postural analysis. The introductory session also serves to introduce the client to the Pilates Method, helping prepare the mind and body for the class situation.
All classes and studio sessions must be booked and paid for in advance to secure a place.
Pilates is an intelligent form of exercise invented by Joseph H Pilates 70 years ago. The method, known as The Art of Contrology, focuses on using the mind to control the muscles and strengthen the “powerhouse” or “core” (abdominals, back, and buttocks) to execute exercises. The outcome of Pilates training is a balanced body that is strong and supple, with a flatter stomach, balanced legs, a strong back, and improved posture, without adding bulk. Pilates also involves concentration and coordination of breath and movement, helping to balance the mind and body and relieve stress and anxiety.
Pilates is recommended by chiropractors and physiotherapists for strengthening the core muscles that support the spine. Regular practise of Pilates can lead to increased joint mobility, a flatter stomach, a thinner and stronger body shape, and improved overall well-being.
Pembrokeshire Pilates invites individuals of all ages and fitness levels to join their classes and experience the transformative benefits of Pilates. They are passionate about helping their clients achieve a longer, leaner, and stronger body shape and provide a supportive and encouraging environment for all.
