About
Nigel Kube, the organiser of the Penguins Swimming Academy, has a message for the sports community. The academy, based in Leicester, UK, is dedicated to improving swimming techniques for all levels, from beginners to elite athletes. With advanced video technology, swimmers can receive precise coaching and feedback.
At the Penguins Swimming Academy, each swimmer gets individual attention with expert coaching. State-of-the-art cameras capture every stroke, both above and below the water, allowing for detailed analysis and instant playback. This helps swimmers adjust their technique effectively.
Swimmers see clear improvements as they align their perception with actual footage, making technique enhancement easier. At the end of each session, participants can take home a video analysis with personalised feedback. Nigel and his team guarantee better swimming technique.
The academy recognises that regular squad sessions often focus more on fitness than technique. Here, intensive sessions and advanced technology help swimmers achieve improvements that would usually take much longer in a club environment. A small improvement in technique can significantly boost swimming speed.
For triathletes, the academy offers tailored coaching to improve swimming technique, helping them conserve energy for other parts of their races. Whether it's for a sprint, Olympic, or Ironman event, the Penguins Swimming Academy is equipped to help.
Nigel Kube, a former National Age Group swimmer and ASA Qualified Coach, founded the academy in 2004. He built the continuous pool and technology unit himself. The academy is affiliated with ITM Ltd, a training and marketing company since 1992. The head coach, Jay Wilson, holds a BSc in Sports & Exercise Science and brings years of experience and excellent communication skills to the team.
The academy uses four computer-controlled cameras to capture every detail of a swimmer’s stroke. Coaches can review footage from different angles and slow-motion replays to highlight areas needing improvement. A 70" touchscreen helps in illustrating changes required. Live radio communication offers real-time feedback during swim cycles, ensuring immediate adjustments.
Nigel and the team at Penguins Swimming Academy are committed to helping swimmers make rapid progress, leveraging advanced technology and focused coaching.
