Sport Manitoba's Performance Centre is excited to announce the upcoming Performance Hockey Program for Manitoba athletes looking to up their game on the ice. Before the program kicks off in May, athletes will go through a thorough physical assessment covering everything from movement to strength, administered by certified pros from the Performance Centre and Sport Medicine Clinic. Additional tests in August will help track progress and makeup sessions are available for any missed appointments. The program is all about boosting hockey-specific strength, aerobic endurance, and overall on-ice performance. Personalized training programs tailored to each athlete's assessment results and goals will be updated every 4 weeks. Featuring a focus on speed, agility, quickness, and explosiveness, the program is geared towards optimizing performance on the rink. This year, we're thrilled to have JP Vigier from Vigier Hockey on board to lead specialized off-ice skills training based on his experience as an NHL player.
For added recovery and relaxation, we've introduced the Recovery Zone with weekly classes to improve flexibility and mobility, along with Normatec compression sleeves for post-workout recovery. Our Sport Medicine clinic offers various services, including quick diagnosis and treatment from a talented team of professionals, ensuring every athlete is ready for their upcoming season.
