Chris wants to share some important details about the Perry Aquatic Centre in Te Awamutu with the sports community. The centre offers a variety of swimming facilities and services right here in Cambridge.
At the heart of the centre is a 25m × 25m indoor pool, ideal for lap swimming and training. There's also a learner/hydrotherapy pool, tots pools, and a splash pad, so everyone from beginners to seasoned swimmers can enjoy a dip. The upgraded 50m outdoor pool is open from Labour Weekend to Easter, providing an excellent spot for swimming in the lovely New Zealand weather. The outdoor area even has BBQ facilities available for hire for those looking to host social gatherings or picnics.
Located at 23 Williamson Street, Cambridge, the Perry Aquatic Centre is easily accessible. If you have any inquiries or bookings, you can reach them on 07 823 5115.
Chris also wants you to know about the competitive pricing at the centre. Adult admission is $8.00, while kids (15 and under) and seniors (65 and up) can get in for $5.00. Spectators are charged $2.00, and kids under five are free with a paying adult (1 adult to 2 under 5’s). There's a family swim pass for $22.00, which covers two adults and two kids, or one adult and three kids. For more fun, the super family pass at $38.00 includes inflatable use. Inflatable sessions can also be purchased separately for $4.00 each.
For those looking for a long-term commitment, membership options are available. Adult memberships range from $20.00 per week (minimum 12-month direct debit) to $900.00 annually. Reduced rates are offered for off-peak, seniors, and students, with senior/student rates at $15.00 per week or $640.00 per year.
Aqua aerobics classes run every weekday and are free for members. Non-members can join in for $8.00 per class or buy a ten-class concession for $70.00.
Chris highlights that the centre always keeps at least three lanes available for public swimming and leisure, but it's a good idea to check their Facebook page (GoWaipa) or call the centre for the latest lane availability.
Please note, the sauna is temporarily closed due to heating issues, but regular maintenance and cleaning are done on the spa pool every Friday from 11am (6am during school holidays).
To spice things up, the centre offers an inflatable experience for swimmers aged five and above during school holidays and weekends. This costs $4.00 per session, and swimmers must pass a swim test to participate.
Operating hours are Monday to Friday, 6am to 9pm, and weekends/public holidays from 8am to 7pm. The centre is closed on Good Friday, ANZAC Day, and Christmas Day. For more details, reach out at 07 823 5115.
Chris invites everyone to follow the centre's Facebook page for updates on activities, lane availability, and more. The Perry Aquatic Centre aims to promote health and community through various swimming and aquatic activities, ensuring there’s something for everyone in the sports community.
