Perth Bowling Club

The Perth Bowling Club, located in Balhousie, North Inch, Perth, is a historic club that has been serving the lawn bowls community since its formation on March 11th, 1853. The club boasts a beautiful green and clubhouse, providing members with an ideal space to enjoy the sport and socialise with fellow bowlers.

Over the years, the Perth Bowling Club has undergone various changes and improvements to accommodate its growing membership. In 1864, a new green was opened at Balhousie, officiated by Sir David Ross, the Lord Provost. In the early 20th century, the club faced challenges with squaring the green, but a modified scheme in 1931 resolved the issue. More updates followed in subsequent decades, including the addition of a kitchen in 1956 and the replacement of the thatch roof with slates in 1966.

The club also has a rich history of achievements and honours. In 2016, the Perth Bowling Club enjoyed success in multiple competitions, winning Division A of the Perth & District League, the Campbell Trophy, the Ladies Fair Maids Trophy, the Carse Senior Triples, the Perth & Perthshire Ladies 2 Pairs, and the Tayside Ladies Triples League. Additionally, a record-breaking 15 members qualified to play in the Bowls Scotland finals at Ayr, marking a significant milestone for the club.

In addition to its competitions and achievements, the Perth Bowling Club welcomes touring sides and encourages other teams to reach out and arrange friendly matches. The club is always open to new players and offers a warm and inclusive atmosphere for both experienced bowlers and newcomers to the sport.

Looking ahead to 2023, the Perth Bowling Club is expecting a busy year with several notable events taking place, such as hosting the Bowls Scotland Finals, Perthshire Bowling Association Finals, Top Ten Final, and an Andrew Hamilton Trophy game. The club's green keeper is working tirelessly to ensure the green is in top condition for all the players involved.
