The Piscine Municipale Assomption in Saint-Hyacinthe is a popular outdoor swimming pool located next to the community centre. Managed by the City of St-Hyacinthe, the pool is open to all residents for free. The key to a successful and safe swimming experience is the supervision of children by a parent or guardian. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied and watched over by someone aged 12 or older.
The City of Saint-Hyacinthe typically opens all of its outdoor pools the week before the Fte Nationale, with daily hours from noon to 7:20 pm. Each swimming period lasts for 1 hour and 20 minutes, with a 10-minute break between each group for disinfection. The pools will operate at reduced capacity to ensure physical distancing is maintained among swimmers. Some time slots may be shared with day camps on weekdays from noon to 3 pm.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, additional health and safety measures have been implemented to ensure a safe environment for all visitors. Information on these measures and updated opening hours can be found on the City of Saint-Hyacinthe's website. Regular updates are also posted on the Facebook page of the Corporation Aquatique Maskoutaine.
In addition to swimming opportunities, the Piscine Municipale Assomption hosts events like the annual Balle Tournament, which raises funds for children's activities organized by the Corporation des Loisirs Assomption. The tournament, held under the sun and with a friendly atmosphere, brings together teams for a weekend of fun and fundraising. Thanks to the support of partners such as Chapiteaux Maska, Olymel, and Maxi, the tournament has successfully raised over $3100 for local youth activities.
As the pool looks forward to its 25th tournament next year, the Piscine Municipale Assomption continues to be a beloved community hub for aquatic recreation and social events in Saint-Hyacinthe.
