Join Kingsford Apaches Cricket Club and be a part of their exciting summer and winter competitions. During summer, matches take place on Saturdays in the Moore Park & South Eastern Cricket Association. Make sure to arrive 15 minutes early as games kick off at 1300h. The matches are played on Astroturf pitches located at Moore Park, Rowland Park (Kingsford), and Booralee Park in Botany.
One day matches are played with 40 overs per side, while two day matches can consist of up to 70 overs per innings and can result in outright wins. Points are awarded for both first innings and outright victories. On Sundays, some players have the opportunity to participate in 35-over one day matches on turf at various locations.
Kingsford Apaches Cricket Club boasts three teams, each competing in different grades. The A team competes in 2nd grade, the B team battles it out in 3rd grade, and the C team, known as the development team, plays in 4th grade. The C team is perfect for players who are either returning to cricket or enjoying their twilight years. However, players are welcome to choose any team to play in. It's worth noting that newcomers often find their place in the C team, but there are chances to move up the ranks to higher grades.
The standard of play varies across the different grades, with lower grades seeing a bit more action like bad balls, dropped catches, and wild swings. Bowling speeds rarely exceed 120kms, so players of all skill levels can feel at home. Don't worry about equipment, as full kits are provided, except for white pants which can be purchased for around $20-30.
Training sessions are held 2–3 times a week, and members are highly encouraged to attend. Training not only helps improve your skills but also allows you to be a part of a supportive and diverse community. Kingsford Apaches Cricket Club consists of players from various backgrounds who are always ready to offer support, training advice, and carpooling options.
Last but not least, the team is proudly sponsored by the Lakes Hotel at Eastlakes. After the games, players gather at the Lakes Hotel to enjoy drinks and food, making it a great opportunity to socialise and build friendships within the club.
So what are you waiting for? Join Kingsford Apaches Cricket Club today and become a valued member of their cricketing community!
