Welcome to Plymouth Leander Swimming Club! Based in Plymouth, we are one of the leading competitive swimming clubs in Britain. With a rich history and an impressive track record, we strive to inspire and motivate our swimmers to be the very best they can be.
Our club is home to a dynamic, professional, and dedicated team of coaches. In fact, we are proud to have two Olympians among our coaching staff. With their expertise and guidance, we aim to help every swimmer fulfil their potential and follow their dreams.
At Plymouth Leander, we recognise the importance of a supportive and inspiring environment. That's why we have partnered with Plymouth College, which has a tradition of excellence in both sports and academics. The success of our high-performance athletes not only in the pool but also in the classroom serves as a source of inspiration for all of our members.
The welfare and safeguarding of our swimmers are of utmost importance to us. We have a Welfare Officer, Shirley Walker, who can be contacted for any concerns or issues regarding the well-being of our members.
In recent news, our swimmers have achieved remarkable success. Laura Stephens, a member of Plymouth Leander, was part of the gold-winning team in the European Championships in Budapest. We are also proud of our stars of the future who have been selected at international, national, and regional levels. Furthermore, our highly-rated young swimmers, Honey and Sophie, will be gaining more international experience as they compete at the 2020 Luxembourg Euro Meet.
We would also like to introduce you to our esteemed coaches. Roberto Pavoni, Assistant Head Coach and National Squads Coach, recently had the honour of representing Team GB as a coach for the first international coaching experience. Christopher Lee is our Head of National Development, bringing expertise and guidance to our swimmers.
We are thrilled to announce that our swimmers have achieved great success at the British Summer Championships, winning 12 gold medals in Glasgow. Sophie Freeman, a member of Plymouth Leander, won her first international medal for Great Britain at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku. Reece Dunn's life has been transformed by the opportunity in para-swimming, becoming a double world record holder and a hot prospect for Tokyo 2020. Honey Osrin won a silver medal in the European Junior Swimming Championships in Kazan.
Upcoming, we will be hosting our regular L1 Long Course event, the Plymouth Leander Early Spring National Qualifier.
Overall, Plymouth Leander Swimming Club is a place where swimmers can fulfil their potential, build friendships, and enjoy experiences that help them grow not only in the pool but also in school and in life. Join us on this exciting journey and become part of the #bluearmy!
