David Jones introduces the Pontefract Food Hub, an initiative supporting families in need with regular meals. Serving 25 families consistently, this service has become a crucial support system during challenging times, with a commitment to continue even post-pandemic.
Founded in 1958 by coal miners, Pontefract Collieries Football Club has grown from informal gatherings to a pillar of the community. It now supports over 50 football teams, spanning seniors (male and female), academy squads, juniors (including girls' teams), and disability teams. The club’s ethos, #FootballForAll, underscores its dedication to inclusivity and providing opportunities for everyone to enjoy football.
Under David’s guidance, the club has intensified its community efforts, collaborating with local organisations to enhance Pontefract for all residents. Beyond football, the club aims to positively influence the community's well-being.
On the field, the first team competes in the Northern Premier League (North East). After a remarkable journey, achieving consecutive promotions from NCEL Division One to the leading Division, the team narrowly missed a third promotion in the 2019 playoff final. With Craig Rouse at the helm as First Team Manager, the club remains steadfast in its quest for promotion to the NPL Premier Division.
Support their initiatives by donating through the club's website. Your contributions are valued and aid in making a difference in the lives of those in need.
