Powerplay is a well-established Football Club located in Basildon, known for its expertise in running 5-a-side football and 7-a-side netball leagues. With over 15 years of experience, Powerplay has perfected the art of organising leagues to provide an exceptional sporting experience.

At Powerplay, participating teams need only bring themselves as the club takes care of everything else. The leagues run in mini-seasons lasting approximately 8 to 13 weeks, during which teams play each opponent twice. Games typically run for around 40 minutes, ensuring fast-paced and engaging matches.

To cater to teams of varying skill levels, most leagues feature multiple divisions, ensuring a fair and competitive environment. Each league is assigned an event organiser who will assist teams from the beginning and serve as a point of contact throughout the league. Additionally, all match officials and equipment are provided by the club, eliminating any concerns for the participants apart from showing up and enjoying the game.

Powerplay offers competitive pricing for the leagues, with top venues charging between 6-10 per player and standard venues ranging from 4-7 per player. There are no additional joining fees, affiliation fees, membership fees, or signup deposits, making it accessible to everyone.

In terms of match format, netball leagues consist of 7-a-side teams with a maximum match night squad size of 10 and unlimited rolling substitutions. Football leagues, on the other hand, offer a mix of 5, 6, and 7-a-side formats, with 5-a-side being the most popular. Football leagues also allow unlimited substitutions and accommodate three extra squad members, maximising flexibility and team dynamics.

The length of a season at Powerplay usually spans from 1. 5 to 3 months, and at the end of each season, the division winners are awarded a trophy. The top two teams are promoted to a higher division, while the bottom two teams are relegated. The following week, a new mini-season begins, ensuring continuous excitement and opportunities for all teams.

The concept of “mini-seasons” is implemented to create a fast-moving and vibrant league structure. This format ensures every game is vital and can potentially be a “six-pointer” or a title-decider. Teams are not stuck mid-table for weeks on end, providing constant motivation and new challenges.
