The Pownal Sports Centre, home to the Pownal Minor Hockey Association, is a hockey club located in the rural community of Pownal, less than 10 minutes from the Town of Stratford in Alexandra. The facility boasts two ice surfaces, amenities, and a large lighted parking lot, making it a convenient and modern sporting complex for players and spectators alike. Officially opened in November of 2003, the Centre was the result of a dedicated group of volunteers and strong financial support from the business community, individuals, the town of Stratford, and various levels of government.
In addition to the main stadium with seating for approximately 600 people and standing room, the Pownal Sports Centre features an adjoining arena with seating for approximately 150 people. Major renovations completed in the fall of 2010 added a level above the lobby, featuring a community room, washrooms, kitchen, and meeting room. The canteen was also relocated to the main lobby. Further renovations in 2022 included two additional dressing rooms and a new referee room, enhancing the facilities for players and staff.
The Pownal Sports Centre also houses a fully stocked hockey equipment store, offering a wide range of gear including sticks, blades, tape, equipment, replacement parts for helmets, and skate sharpening equipment. With convenient access to the facility and a range of amenities, players and spectators can enjoy a top-notch hockey experience at the Pownal Sports Centre.
Located approximately 15 km east of Charlottetown, the Pownal Sports Centre is easily accessible from Route 1.
