About
PPJ Cyclopark, located in Campbell's Bay, offers cyclists a picturesque and tranquil setting to explore the stunning landscapes of the Pontiac region. The park is named after the PPJ 1 trail, a 92 km secure pathway segregated from motorized traffic and shared with pedestrians. The trail runs over a former rail bed, providing a relatively flat route with rock surfaces and 14 rest areas distributed along the length for cyclist's convenience.
Cyclists can embark on various scenic journeys starting from Bristol to Campbell's Bay, passing through agricultural zones, wooded valleys, traditional breeding farms, wetlands, and forests, with panoramic views of rural scenes. The trail also features sections from Bristol to Shawville, Shawville to Campbell's Bay, Campbell's Bay to Waltham, Campbell's Bay to Fort-Coulonge, Fort-Coulonge to Waltham, and L'Isle-aux-Allumettes.
Interpretation panels are strategically placed throughout the trail to provide information about the natural and historical significance of the area. The PPJ 1 path offers a unique opportunity to explore diverse landscapes, from fertile plains to wetlands, forests, and the scenic Ottawa River.
Unlike other sections, the L'Isle-aux-Allumettes part of the trail was built alongside a country road on the shores of the Ottawa River, offering cyclists a different perspective of the region. The island is home to approximately 1,500 people and features agricultural land, farms, forests, and the main village of Chapeau, providing essential services for visitors.
PPJ Cyclopark is designed and maintained by Fresh Image, offering cyclists a well-maintained and safe environment to enjoy the beauty of the Pontiac region. Whether you are a novice cyclist or a seasoned rider, PPJ Cyclopark provides a unique cycling experience for all levels of enthusiasts. Plan your visit to PPJ Cyclopark and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and rich history of the Pontiac region.
