Project Fitness GB opened its doors in Houghton Le Spring in February 2020 with the goal of creating an inclusive community-based gym that focuses on the individual as a whole, rather than just physical ability. Since then, the facility has expanded and relocated to Great Lumley and has been recognised for its excellence. It won The Sunderland Echo 2022 Business Excellence award in “Leisure and Hospitality” and was named the Best Gym in 2022 by the Sunderland Echo.

All of their weighted equipment is brand new and state-of-the-art, and they have a custom rig. Convenience is a priority, as they provide free parking and have 24-hour CCTV security.
