Helen Hicks, organiser at Puddle Ducks South East Wales, would like to share some important updates with the sports community. Puddle Ducks South East Wales runs a well-regarded baby swimming school in Newport, offering lessons spanning both Cardiff and Newport.
Helen is dedicated to offering a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for children. The Baby & Pre-school swimming lessons at Puddle Ducks are designed to foster a strong bond between parents and their babies. The lesson plans focus on building water-confidence and a love of swimming. Tailored to each child's needs, these lessons take place in warm, inviting pools with a maximum of ten children, ensuring a relaxed and supportive environment.
Each session weaves in rhyme, music, and movement, all grounded in solid child development research. Puddle Ducks is the only national baby swim school that's 100% child-led, allowing kids to develop at their own pace. Many children here can swim over 10 metres before they even start school.
For older children, from primary school age up to 10, Puddle Ducks offers Swim Academy classes. These classes aim to teach efficient swimming techniques while also covering essential water safety and lifesaving skills. With small class sizes, each child gets the right level of support and attention. The sessions are varied and enjoyable, designed to keep children challenged and motivated.
The teaching team at Puddle Ducks South East Wales is experienced and passionate. Susie has been with us for five years, teaching both Swim Academy and Baby & Pre-school classes. Susan, holding a Level 3 Diploma in Baby Swimming, specialises in Baby & Pre-school classes. Our newest member, Rachel, teaches both Baby & Pre-school and Swim Academy classes. Rob started as a Poolside Assistant and now teaches both sets of classes as well. Helen also dives into teaching whenever needed.
