Welcome to Quantum Archers, a leading archery club located in Birmingham, West Midlands. With a rich history and a commitment to fostering a love for the sport, we welcome archers of all ages and skill levels to join our thriving community.
Founded in 2002 by a group of passionate individuals originating from a night school archery class, Quantum Archers was established with the goal of affiliating with reputable archery associations such as the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS), the County of Warwickshire Archery Association (CWAA), and the West Midlands Archery Society (WMAS). This affiliation allows our members to participate in a wide range of competitions.
Over the years, Quantum Archers has evolved and grown in membership. In 2004, a new Management Committee was elected, and the club adopted a new constitution. While initially operating from the night school class, the club expanded its reach to include children through “Family Learning” classes. In 2005, Quantum Juniors, a separate club under the umbrella of Quantum Archers, was established to cater specifically to junior archers.
Today, the junior club operates seamlessly alongside the senior club, furthering our mission to engage archers of all ages.
Finding suitable shooting venues has been a challenge for Quantum Archers, but we have recently been fortunate to secure the use of The Bridge Trust ground in Perry Barr. However, we lacked proper storage for targets and stands. We are immensely thankful to the Erdington Rotary Club, who awarded us a grant towards the purchase of full-size layered foam target bosses. These targets can be stored outside and enable both new and experienced archers to practise on a full-size target, enhancing the overall archery experience.
At Quantum Archers, we are proud to host a variety of tournaments and events throughout the year. Notably, the CWAA Indoor Championships will take place on January 28th, 2024, followed by the CWAA Outdoor Championships on July 7th, 2024. These events provide opportunities for our members to showcase their skills and compete against archers from across the region.
Under the guidance of our dedicated committee, Quantum Archers actively works towards our purpose of encouraging and fostering participation and enjoyment in the sport of archery. We collaborate with community groups to develop interest in archery through taster sessions, school programmes, and community events. Our goal is to make archery accessible to as many people as possible and to support the personal development of our members.
The committee, consisting of a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Junior Development Officer, ensures the smooth management of the club. We also have additional members co-opted onto the committee, including a Child Protection Officer, Junior Club Representative, Records Officer, Equipment Officer, and Tournament Organiser. Regular committee meetings are held throughout the year, and at least one member is present at all club events for member support and inquiries.
Looking ahead, Quantum Archers envisions a future where archery continues to be accessible and enjoyable for all. We strive to impart knowledge, organise coaching days, and support our members in their journey to become GNAS qualified coaches. Whether our members aim to compete in tournaments, achieve personal bests, or simply shoot for fun, we encourage them to continue their involvement in the sport.
