Quarry Hill Golf Club has a rich history that dates back to its founding in 1921 by Sir John and Lady Catherine Quick. Sir John Quick, Bendigo's first federal member of parliament and one of the founding fathers of the federation of Australia, established the club with a different design for the course. The club still pays tribute to its origins by naming the Clubrooms after Sir John.
During its peak in the 1970s and 1980s, Quarry Hill Golf Club was extremely popular, attracting numerous young golfers who enjoyed playing on its hilly terrain. Many of Bendigo's finest golfers actually began their careers at Quarry Hill before moving on to other courses. For instance, Len Prior, a member of the Bendigo sports hall of fame for his contributions to golf, started at Quarry Hill.
In the 1990s, grass greens became more popular among golfers, causing a decline in membership for Quarry Hill Golf Club. However, the club has always maintained its mission of being an affordable and accessible club for working-class individuals. The club aims to provide affordable golfing opportunities and continues to serve the golfing community in Bendigo.
