RASDEG, the Redlands and Southern Districts Equestrian Group, is a volunteer equestrian community group located in Thornlands, Queensland. Affiliated with Equestrian Australia and Equestrian Queensland, RASDEG is dedicated to promoting and supporting the equine sport of dressage.
RASDEG organises and runs training clinics and competitions, catering to riders of all skill levels. From beginners with Prep – Walk trot to Official and FEI tests, there is something for everyone. Most of the competitions are held at the Redlands Horse and Pony Club, conveniently located at 190-262 Cleveland-Redland Bay Road in Thornlands. Events are held at least once a month, providing regular opportunities for riders to showcase their skills.
The club's members range in age from 7 years old to more mature riders in their 60s. RASDEG's guiding principle is to create a friendly, fun, and safe environment for riders and their horses to learn and compete. Whether you're just starting out or aiming for official competition level, the club's supportive community will be there to cheer you on.
RASDEG offers a variety of events and activities. Training Days are informal gatherings open to RASDEG members, providing an opportunity for riders and horses to become familiar with the competition grounds and alleviate any new place stress. Clinics are also offered, primarily for members but available to outside riders who have appropriate insurance. These educational opportunities are announced through the club's newsletter, website, and social media pages.
Social Days are a chance to enjoy a relaxed ride with your horse and engage in socialising with fellow members over morning or afternoon tea. Members and Participant Dressage Days are informal competitions suitable for all members. These days allow more serious and competitive riders to test their skills and progress without the pressure of formal competition. Separate ribbons are offered to EA Participant member riders.
The club also holds EA Official Dressage Competitions, attracting riders from South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. These competitions showcase the highest level of skill and provide a platform for riders to compete at a prestigious level.
Joining RASDEG is a wonderful opportunity to engage in the equestrian community, improve your riding skills, and form lasting friendships. To learn more or get involved, visit their website or follow them on social media. RASDEG welcomes riders of all ages and skill levels and encourages everyone to subscribe to their newsletter for the latest updates and news.
