Ratae Road Club

Ratae Road Club, based in Leicester, extends a warm welcome to all cyclists, as emphasised by its organiser, Alex. While the name suggests a focus on road cycling, the club's offerings go beyond that.

Weekly road rides are organised every Wednesday and Sunday mornings, with options for both fast and steady speed groups. For those who prefer off-road adventures, rides are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month, weather permitting.

Competitive cyclists are well catered for. Club time trials take place in the spring and summer, and there's an autumn hill climb. The club also participates in the Leics Cyclocross League. Founded in 1950 through the merger of cycling clubs from local engineering companies – British United Shoe Machinery Co and Mellor Bromley – Ratae Road Club celebrates its history with Founders' Day in July. This event features various rides ending at a local pub for drinks and lunch.
