About
Right in the heart of Dover, River Bowling Club has been a staple since 1923. Part of Bowls England and the Kent County Bowling Association, they’ve got matches for everyone—from teens to great-grandparents.
Nestled by the River Recreation Ground, River Bowling Club has recently taken over maintaining the green and Clubhouse. The Clubhouse, rebuilt in ‘96 after a fire, offers a comfy spot to chill and socialise.
From April to September, the outdoor bowling season is in full swing. When it gets chilly, short mat bowls take the stage in the Clubhouse. Plus, they’re known for their buzzing social scene, with events all year round.
River Bowling Club is all about welcoming new faces. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newbie, there’s something for everyone. They even offer coaching to help you up your game.
Running the show is a solid crew including President Mike Kirby, Chairman Nigel Smith, Vice Chairman Mick Ambrose, Secretary Carolyn Bedo, and Treasurer Chris Rawson. They’ve also got dedicated men’s and ladies’ captains, match secretaries, a green manager, and a housekeeper keeping things running smoothly.
To keep tabs on news, results, and events, check out their website and social media—loads of great content, including photos, guides, and fixtures.
Shoutout to their awesome sponsors and local community partners, who help keep the club thriving.
