Interested in learning bridge can be found on our website or by contacting our club secretary. At the Rockhampton Bridge Club, we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all players, whether they are beginners or experienced players.
The club was established in 1970 and became affiliated with the Queensland Bridge Association in 1971. We are proud to be located in the Beef Capital of Australia, known for its rich agricultural heritage. Our club's first meeting was held at the Commercial Hotel on May 14th, 1970.
In 1978, the club purchased a building in Victoria Park from the Arts Society. Through fundraisers and the offering of life memberships, club members were able to raise the necessary funds for the purchase. The building required extensive renovations, which were carried out primarily by club members during nights and weekends. We are grateful for the significant contribution made by Mr Ron Lorraway towards the restoration of the building.
In 1991, a decision was made to double the size of the building to accommodate congresses and larger events. This expansion allowed us to hold our first annual event in the club rooms in 1992. Since then, we have continued to host a variety of events and competitions for our members and visitors alike.
At the Rockhampton Bridge Club, we offer beginner's lessons throughout the year to help new players learn the game. These lessons are followed by supervised sessions where players can receive guidance and support while playing. We encourage visitors and anyone interested in learning bridge to join us and experience the captivating nature of this game.
