Seaforth Raiders, a Rugby Union club in Sydney, takes great pride in providing opportunities for both girls and boys to experience the sport locally. They offer a welcoming environment for individuals aged 4 to 18 to join their club and participate in the competitions that run from late March to August each season.
If you're interested in getting involved, the entry point for young players is the Mini's Rugby program, which caters to age groups Under 6 and 7. These fun-filled sessions take place on Saturday mornings across the picturesque Northern Beaches. The focus here is on developing fundamental skills such as passing, running, and, most importantly, enjoying the game. Tackling is not introduced at this level; instead, children play using two-handed tags.
As players progress to the Under 7s category, they continue to strengthen their skills, and towards the end of the season, they are gradually introduced to tackling through practice at training sessions and friendly games against other clubs in the Manly Village area. When girls reach the Under 8s stage, they have the option to either continue playing alongside the boys in the Mini's competition or participate in a new dedicated Northern Beaches-based competition. For boys, the Northern Beaches Mini's competition follows the pathway rules set by Rugby Australia.
For girls aged between Under 11 and Under 17 & Opens, they have three competition options available. They can choose to compete within their specific age groups, or they can join the Minis competition. This inclusiveness allows girls to find the best fit for their development and enjoyment of the sport.
Junior Rugby officially kicks off at Under 10s, where players join the highly regarded Sydney Junior Rugby Union competition. This competition offers graded matches organised based on skill levels, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants. From Under 13s to Under 18s (Opens), the Manly Village clubs of Harbord, Manly Roos, Allambie Jets, and Seaforth Raiders come together to form composite teams for the Manly Savers competition. This innovative concept allows boys to train locally while playing alongside boys from across the district, promoting both safety and enjoyment.
Registration for all age groups and competitions is now open and can be easily completed through the Raiders' dedicated registration page. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to be a part of the lively rugby scene and vibrant community that the Seaforth Raiders have cultivated. Join the Raiders and embark on an unforgettable rugby journey!
