About

Hey team,

Imogen Doyle from the Saint Kilda Surf Life Saving Club (St Kilda SLSC) here. Just wanted to give you a quick update about what the club's been up to and our future plans.

St Kilda SLSC, based in good old Dunedin, has been around for years and made quite a name for itself. In 2012, we snagged the Top South Island Club award, and we haven't slowed down since. We've picked up heaps of accolades - Otago/Southland Rescue of the Year in 2013, Top Club titles across multiple years, and in 2016, our U16 Men's team got some well-deserved recognition.

We’re pretty chuffed about our 2018 Innovation of the Year award for starting the Tomahawk Patrols alongside the St Clair SLSC. And last year, we took home the Arancia Cup for being the top South Island club at the IRB Nationals.

This year, we knocked it out of the park again at the Southland/Otago Awards. Our U23 Female IRB Crew was named Team of the Year, and we won the Rescue of the Year for a big save on 4th February 2023 with the St Clair crew. Oh, and we were recognised as the Top Overall Club too. Not too shabby, right?

Our lifeguards are out at St Kilda Beach every weekend and public holiday from October through March, keeping an eye out and making sure everyone’s safe. We're there from midday to 4 or 5, depending on the season.

We're linked up with Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ), part of a nationwide team that’s been saving lives for over a hundred years. SLSNZ's volunteers patrol over 90 beaches, saving heaps of lives each year.

We're always looking to train up new volunteers to join our patrols and keep our beaches safe. If you want to help out but can't hit the beach, donations to SLSNZ make a huge difference in keeping our efforts strong.

For more info or if you want to get involved, feel free to check out our website or get in touch with me directly.

Stay safe and catch you at the beach!
Imogen Doyle
