Salsa in Cumbria is a vibrant part of our sports community, based in Penrith and led by an inspiring organiser, Maria. She's passionate about bringing the joy of salsa dancing to everyone, with a focus on making every session fun and fulfilling. It's a great way to stay active, enjoy yourself, and meet new friends.
Classes in Penrith are held at the Penrith Conservative Club on Crown Square. They start with the beginner partner class at 7:00 pm, followed by an improver partner class at 8:00 pm, and rounding off with an improver/intermediate partner class at 9:00 pm. After the lessons, there’s social dancing until 10:30 pm. Each class costs £6, and once you’re up to speed, you can join any of the lessons.
In Carlisle, sessions take place at The New Waterton Hall on Warwick Square, a venue known for its large sprung wooden dance floor and ample seating. Parking is available, with free on-street options after 6:00 pm. Remember to bring your own refreshments, as there’s no bar.
The Carlisle schedule includes a beginner partner class at 7:30 pm, an improver partner class at 8:20 pm, and an intermediate partner class at 9:10 pm. The fee is £6, with new beginners always welcome.
