Dom, the organiser, would like to extend a personal invitation to the sports community to join Avon County Rowing Club. He's excited to share a few ways you can get involved.

First, you might consider enrolling in one of the Learn to Row courses specially designed for beginners. These cover the essentials of rowing technique and safety, offering a supportive environment to get started. If a more tailored approach suits you better, Dom suggests arranging private coaching sessions with one of the club’s qualified coaches.

For those who prefer land-based training, the club now offers 'Go Row Indoor' classes. These sessions cater to all fitness levels and are perfect for improving technique and getting fit without needing to be on the water.

Avon County Rowing Club is conveniently located at the Saltford Rowing Centre, just off the A4 between Bath and Bristol. The club enjoys a picturesque spot on the River Avon, boasting four kilometres of quiet water, including a straight 1,250-metre stretch. The site is shared with other water sports clubs, including Bristol University Boat Club, Monkton Combe School Boat Club, Canoe Avon, and the Bristol Empire Dragon Boat Club.

Dom is proud of the club’s welcoming atmosphere, open to members of all ages, ranging from 12 to those in their 70s. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned rower, the club has something for everyone. Throughout the year, they attend a variety of races suitable for all ages and experience levels. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, non-competitive social rowing is also available.

With a rich history dating back to 1973, the club was formed by merging the Avon and Bristol clubs, ending a longstanding friendly rivalry. Recent site redevelopments have enhanced facilities, including improved boat storage, a small gym, and a spacious clubroom with stunning views of the river.
