Welcome to Samurai Arts, a leading gym located in Rotorua, New Zealand. As the name suggests, our gym specialises in the art of samurai martial arts, offering a wide range of classes in various disciplines such as Kobujutsu, Taikai, Ju-Jutsu, Kenjutsu, and Ladies Jiu-Jitsu.

At Samurai Arts, we pride ourselves on being the ultimate source of knowledge and expertise in traditional Japanese martial arts. With a well-curated syllabus and a team of qualified instructors, we provide our members with the opportunity to learn the most dynamic martial art on the planet.

Our dojo is designed to create a safe, effective, and positive environment for our members. Led by Sensei Dave Butler, one of New Zealand's most experienced instructors with over 50 years of teaching and practising martial arts, our team of friendly and helpful instructors ensures that every member feels welcome and supported.

What sets Samurai Arts apart is our commitment to offering martial arts training suitable for both ladies and men, and even law enforcement personnel. We believe that being super-fit is not a prerequisite; rather, a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn are far more important.

We offer the first two lessons for free so that you can come and experience our great dojo firsthand. Located on the top floor of the Advocate Print Building on Fenton Street, our gym provides a welcoming and conducive space for training.

Membership applications are currently open for new members, and our monthly fees are affordable. Adults can avail membership at $40 per month, while students and beneficiaries can join for $30 per month.

Aside from learning self-defence techniques, training at Samurai Arts offers a host of benefits. It fosters comradeship, friendship, and teamwork among our members. It instils confidence and provides mental and physical challenges that promote personal growth. Our structured fitness and health programme ensures that you stay in peak physical condition.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to Fuji-Arts for allowing us to reproduce some historic Japanese wood-block images, giving our gym a touch of authenticity and tradition.
